Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is just around the corner, with the latest chapter in Senua’s journey set to drop on Xbox Series X|S consoles on May 21. Though you’ve most likely played the original Hellblade through Xbox Game Pass if you’re subbed, you may have canned it altogether with a preference to own your games outright. Well, if you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to jump into Ninja Theory’s experiential banger, then a new Xbox sale has you covered – at least, until Hellblade 2’s launch day.
Right now you can grab Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice for just $2.99/£2.49 on the Xbox Store, down a very respectable 90% from $29.99/£24.99. That’s right, for the price of a coffee (depending on how fancy you get with it) you can enjoy one of the best Xbox games around. It’s not the first time we’ve seen Hellblade drop this low as of late, but it is the last time you’re going to be able to get it this cheap before the Hellblade 2 release date rocks up.
Speaking of rocks, if you’ve been living under one – or down in the depths of Helheim – Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice follows its titular character as she sets off to rescue her lover from the Norse realm of the dead, fighting off beasties and solving puzzles on the way. However, Senua’s greatest struggle is a psychological one due to the fact she lives with psychosis. This materializes in the form of the Furies – a troupe of inner voices that berate and torment Senua throughout her journey.
As an experiential narrative adventure, what sets Hellblade apart is the sheer immersion Ninja Theory has been able to infuse into it. Through the use of cinematic setpieces and incredibly impressive binaural audio – you’re missing out if you don’t wear one of the best Xbox headsets while playing – Senua’s nightmarish reality transcends your typical game, evolving into something much more visceral. It’s easily one of the most memorable gaming experiences I’ve had and one which I implore you to try if you haven’t already – especially at this price.
Of course, it’s still worth noting that Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is on the list of Xbox Game Pass games, but if you’re not interested in what Xbox is offering with its subscription service then this deal will additionally help you save a few bucks over the price of a sub – we rarely get to say that.
