A new Xbox sale has sprung up in time for Golden Week, and its headline trio is not to be missed out on. With the premium editions of Persona 3 Reload and Resident Evil 4, alongside Tekken 8’s base game, all up to 30% off, it’s the perfect time to jump into some of the best Xbox games from the past year.
Quickly cementing its place on the best RPG games list when it arrived in February, Persona 3 Reload blew me away. Though Persona 5 Royal remains my favorite in Atlus’ series, Reload’s darker narrative beats are not to be missed. While I wouldn’t pay the full $79.99/£69.98 RRP for the Deluxe Digital Edition – you’re only getting a digital artbook and soundtrack on top of the base game – it’s currently down 25% to a much more palatable $59.99/£52.48.
You’ll still need to cough up the cash for the Expansion Pass if you want to experience the remastered version of The Answer, which arrives as a DLC drop in September, but a saving now is a saving down the line. Of course, if you’re not super fussed about owning your games or the Deluxe Digital Edition extras, then Persona 3 Reload is on the Xbox Game Pass games list.
A second major arrival from February is the Gold Edition of Resident Evil 4 – the best horror game remake from the iconic series to date. For $39.99/£31.98, down 20% from $49.99/£39.98, you’ll get the base game alongside the Separate Ways Ada story DLC, as well as a slew of costumes, weapons, and useful items. Critics awarded the Resi 4 remake a whopping 93 on Metacritic – the highest we’ve seen from the series since the original 2005 landed on console, solidifying it as one of the best horror games of all time.
Last, but not least we have the biggest fighting game release of 2024 so far – Tekken 8. Taking up spots in several best games lists, the multiplayer game is an absolute tour de force, and the best we’ve seen from the legendary series since 1998’s Tekken 3. Marking the end of Jin and Kazuya’s bitter brotherly struggle – a struggle that’s persisted for the past 20 years – developer Bandai Namco pulled out all the stops for Tekken’s current-gen debut. Coming in at $48.99/£48.99 in the sale (down from $69.99/£69.99), you can get in the ring for 30% off.
Suffice to say, the Xbox Golden Week sale lineup is pretty cracked. Alongside the terrific trio we just highlighted, bangers like Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, Tales of Arise, and the Devil May Cry series all getting involved – your bank balance is in serious danger.
