The Mavericks tied up the series after defeating the Thunder 119-110 in Game 2. OKC must now travel to Dallas, where they'll face Doncic and co. for Games 3 and 4. Our 2K24 simulations accurately predicted the outcomes of both games. Can it succeed once again in predicting the outcome of Game 3?
Thunder vs. Mavericks Conference Semi Finals Game 3 Results According To NBA 2K24
According to our NBA 2K24 Simulation the Oklahoma City Thunder will defeat the Dallas Mavericks in Game 3 by a score of 137-128. Despite trailing for most of the contest, the Thunder's offense played consistently better each quarter until victory was in their grasp. The Mavericks, meanwhile, played well, but struggled to match the Thunder's shot success percentages.
TEAM | Quarter 1 | Quarter 2 | Quarter 3 | Quarter 4 | FINAL |
OKC | 30 | 33 | 34 | 40 | 137 |
DAL | 34 | 29 | 32 | 33 | 128 |
The Mavericks got off to a good start, replicating their real life Game 2 performance. However, the Thunder weren't just going to let them take another big lead again. Outside of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, the Mavericks really didn't have anyone else step in and make some plays. Instead, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams walked all over the Dallas defense.
The game was over after the Thunder went off on a 9-0 run in the last minute and a half to take a 137-126 lead. The Mavericks were too far behind to make a comeback effort with just 18 seconds, letting the Thunder walk away victorious. With the win, the Thunder reclaim their lead in the series.
As for player performances, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander takes the game ball here. He almost finished the day with a triple double, earning 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Furthermore, Josh Giddey and Jalen Williams also played phenomenally. Giddey scored 28 points while also recording a steal and a block. Williams added another 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 block to the stat sheet. Overall, an excellent day for the Thunder offense.
As for the Mavericks, Kyrie Irving led the team with 51 total points. However, both he and Doncic only converted eight of 22 total three point conversions. Furthermore, they committed a combined three turnovers, when the team only had 5 overall. Outside of those two performances, there was no notable play on the rest of the Mavericks' roster. They'll hope to change that in Game 4.

With the win, the Thunder win Game 3 on the road and re-take the lead in the series. The team will continue to rely on centerpieces like SGA and Chet Holmgren if they want to make to the Conference Finals. The hope now is to win Game 4 on the road, so they can finish the series quickly at home. Less playing time equates to less injury, so the Thunder might want to wrap things up soon.
With the loss, the Mavericks once again allowed their opponent to take a lead in the series. The hope here was to win both games at home, considering they have home field advantage. However, it seems the Mavericks are going to need to take this to Game 6 at least, if they hope to advance. We'll see if Doncic and Irving have what it takes to propel past these losses.
Considering the talent level of both teams, we won't be surprised to see this series extend to seven games.
In terms of accuracy, we do feel the score and outcome feel pretty reasonable. However, it seems like these two teams in particular seem to score more than any of our other 2K24 Simulations. Strangely enough, Luka Doncic doesn't seem to be as accurate of a three-point shooter in the game, like he is in real life. Nevertheless, we'll continue to strive for more accurate and enjoyable simulations.
