Call of Duty Warzone Season 3 Reloaded is imminent, and developer Sledgehammer Games has finally dished out the deets on what you can expect to experience when the latest update drops on PS5 and Xbox. With a shiny new weapon and various balance changes on the way, alongside new weather conditions for Rebirth Island, there’s a solid amount to get up to snuff with in the new Warzone update.
Revamped, re-energized, and reborn, Rebirth Island returned to Warzone after a lengthy absence from the battle royale game last month. However, Sledgehammer has more in store for the iconic map, adding sunset, overcast, and foggy time of day variations. As with Vondel, these conditions can change dynamically during a match, so be wary of incoming fog while you’re trying to snipe.
Elsewhere on Rebirth – more specifically during Resurgence matches – you’ll be able to experience the new Heavy Armor public event, which ups the total number of health points from 150 to 200 – a dream if you love a higher TTK. According to the studio, “this event has a low chance of occurring at the beginning of each match,” so an element of luck is involved.
If you’re trying to rid yourself of sub-par gear in the FPS game, then there’s good news – the Weapon Trade Station is making its grand return. Now, rather than simply chucking away weapons you deem unfit for purpose, you’ll be able to trade them in for all sorts of loot depending on the rarity. Stonks.
The WTS isn’t the only returning feature making its Season 3 Reloaded. The Utility Box Field Upgrade, Foresight Killstreak – a game-changer for getting a leg up on map rotations – and the Specialist Perk Package can now all be acquired in-game. There’s a lot of “[[redacted]]” information in the patch notes, including a mystery “[[redacted]] upgrade” which is incredibly unhelpful – I wonder if it’s a reference to that recent Xbox Showcase announcement…
On the weapons front, the BAL-27 Assault Rifle is an intriguing new addition that could make a big impact on the Warzone meta. Sledgehammer describes it as “a bullpup prototype weapon designed to increase fire rate over time while the trigger is squeezed. The first four shots are slower to fire but highly accurate.” Even if you don’t make that initial burst count, the increased fire rate should hopefully mop up the rest of your opponent – you do need to hit those shots, though.
