Dead By Daylight (DBD)'s upcoming chapter, Dungeons and Dragons, will introduce Aestri Yazar, who brings with her various new perks, as well as a bag of dice. We hope your luck with dice is good.
Dead By Daylight (DBD)'s New Survivior: Aestri Yazar
Aestri, fellow bard Baermar, and their troupe never back down from any adventure.
Aestri Yazar is DBD's 42nd killer, following Sable Ward back in March. She becomes available to play in DBD on June 3, 2024. Excited players can, however, play as her right now on the Public Test Build (PTB).
Aestri Yazar comes partnered with Baermar Uraz, an alternative appearance for Aestri, complete with a male character model. This is purely cosmetic. For all intents and purposes, Aestri Yazar and Baermar Uraz are the same Survivor, with Aestri Yazar as the default version.
For the sake of clarity, this guide will refer only to Aestri Yazar.
Aestri Yazar Perks
Aestri Yazar's perks in DBD are Mirrored Illusion, Still Sight, and Bardic Inspiration.
Mirrored Illusion
This perk activates after completing a total of 50% worth of repair progress on generators.
Press the ability button 2 when next to a totem, chest, generator or exit gate to spawn a static illusion that lasts for 100/110/120 seconds.
Then, the perk deactivates.
This is a misdirection perk, designed to confuse the Killer when it comes to tracking down Survivors. This allows the Survivor to create an illusion that, from afar, will look like a Survivor. When the Killer gets too close, however, they can easily see that it is an Illusion.
This Illusion can buy players precious time, as most Killers will go toward Survivors they see, especially those who look oblivious to their surroundings.
Survivors can even save this perk until the game's late stages when they can place an illusion at the exit gate to make the Killer think that they are not in the area. Of course, it all comes down to how the Survivor uses it, so players will need to get creative with this Perk.
Still Sight
After standing still for 6/5/4 seconds, this perk activates.
Until you start moving, you see the aura of the Killer as well as all generators and chests within 18 meters.
Still Sight is a very straightforward information perk, as it shows players the locations of nearby Generators, Chests, and even the Killer if they are not moving around.
This is a good perk to use if the player wants to quickly find Generators, for either a Gen Rush or just to repair. Players can also use this perk to keep track of the Killer after they have hooked a Survivor, allowing players to safely unhook without fear of the Killer returning to attack them.
Of course, this perk has its downsides. For starters, the player has to stand still for the perk to activate. That means players can't use it during a chase. The second is its small range of 18 meters. This means that this perk is useless for finding distant generators and chests.
Bardic Inspiration
Press the ability button 1 while standing and motionless to enter the “performance” interaction that lasts up to 15 seconds and empowers Survivors within 16 meters. Roll a d20. This effect lasts for 60 seconds if the performance is completed.
1 | You scream, but nothing happens
2-10 | skill checks give +1% progress
11-19 | skill checks give +2% progress
20 | skill checks give +3% progress
When the ability is cancelled or the performance completes, it goes on cooldown for 90/75/60 seconds.
This perk is perhaps Aestri Yazar's strongest perk, and one of the strongest in DBD right now. As mentioned, activating this perk will cause the player to stand still for a period of time to perform. The performance comes in the form of taking out a lute to perform.
Once the player completes the performance, they will roll a D20 (twenty-sided dice), which will dictate the buffs that the players who listened to the performance will get.
This is a strong perk as players can potentially gain +3% progress for each skill check they do for 60 seconds. Even if the player using this perk fails to give the 3% progress bonus, a 1-2% bonus is still nothing to scoff at.
This perk does, however, hold two downsides. The first is that the player will have to stand still for at least 15 seconds to perform. Not only that, but the performance actually does make a lot of noise. This makes it easy for the Killer to track down anyone using this perk and disrupt it.
If the Killer successfully disrupts the perk, the perk will be put on cooldown for at least 60 seconds. That means that, for that 60 seconds, the player running this perk will only have three perks to play around with. As such, it is important to only use this perk if the player is sure that they are away from the killer.
The second downside is the luck component of the Perk. Players have to hope that they always roll high so that they will receive the 2-3% progress bonus per skill check instead of just a 1%. This luck component makes it difficult to reliably get value from this Perk.
It is important to note that these values are all from the game's PTB. It is possible that the values will be adjusted before release. Should there be any changes, we will be sure to let you know.
