Mavericks vs. Thunder Conference Semi Finals Game 5 Results According To NBA 2K24
According to our simulation, the Dallas Mavericks will defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 by a score of 132-124. Dallas got off to a hot lead in the start, but Oklahoma caught back up in the second quarter. From there, it was a tightly contested match until the final minutes, where the Mavericks ended strong. They now reclaim their series lead.
TEAM | Quarter 1 | Quarter 2 | Quarter 3 | Quarter 4 | FINAL |
DAL | 32 | 29 | 35 | 36 | 132 |
OKC | 24 | 35 | 30 | 35 | 124 |
In the last 25 seconds, the Mavericks' role players all played a crtitical part in the victory. Maxi Kleber, Daniel Gafford, and Time Hardaway Jr. scored 7 combined points in the final seconds too take a 132-124 lead. The Thunder's offense was finally halted as Dallas found a way to shut them down and achieve victory. It was a hard-fought battle, one that represents how insane this series is.
One statistic that helped the Mavericks was turnovers. While they committed six, the Thunder only earned eight total points off of them. Meanwhile, the Thunder committed 9 turnovers, which led to 11 points from Dallas. Otherwise, both teams performed amazingly on offense, with high statistical shot conversions across the board.
In terms of player performances, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving once again dominated for the Mavericks. Doncic put up 42 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists, nearly earning a triple-double. Irving, meanwhile, dropped another 37 points while converting almost half of his three-point attempts. Furthermore, Tim Hardaway Jr. also played a great game, putting up 24 points while converting four-of-five three-point attempts.
As for the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led his team in scoring (34) and assists (8). Furthermore, Jalen Williams also dropped 32 points and 8 rebounds, while converting all four of his 3PT shots successfully. Chet Holmgren also put up a solid offensive performance, scoring 21 points. However, none of their impressive efforts were enough to help OKC win this one.

With the win, the Mavericks reclaim their lead in the series. Furthermore, they get to head back to Dallas for Game 6 in hopes of closing the series out now. With the Timberwolves and Nuggets series still going on, both teams won't have to worry about their opposition resting much. Overall, the Mavericks will continue to rely on their entire roster, not just superstars, to push through and win it all.
With the loss, the Thunder once again trail in this series. Furthermore, they lose a crucial game at home which could've given them a major advantage. Now they must head to Dallas and win before potentially going back home. It'll be a rough road to rebounding, but the Thunder have the players to make it happen. They just need to execute when the time comes.
In terms of accuracy, we feel the score was a bit too high, but not unrealistic. While both teams definitely have offensive playmakers, we're not sure if the score would get this high. For some reason, these two teams in particular seem to score a lot more than any other teams in our sims. Despite our adjustments to CPU Sliders, we fear we have no way of stopping them from scoring a lot.
Regardless, we just had a blast watching the game and see it unfold. However, we'll continue to strive for more accurate simulations, whether it means adjusting CPU sliders or other settings. One particular setting we're working on is custom rosters to account for injuries. However, every time we do so, the game seems to crash.
