Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes balances the game by not allowing players to carry too many items when they go about their adventures. That means having limited inventory space for most of the time. But there’s actually a way to go around this. In this Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes guide, we reveal how to increase inventory space to make it possible for you to bring more in your travels.
How to Increase Inventory Space in Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes
There are two ways to increase your inventory space in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. One of these two is permanent.
Recruit Nell to your Party and Set Him to Support
One way to increase your inventory slots is by recruiting Nell. Nell can be found in Hishahn midway through the game. There are no special requirements to recruit Nell. Simply walk up to him at the upper left part of Hishahn and he’ll hastily join your party.
However, simply getting Nell to join your roster isn’t enough to get your inventory space up. To actually increase your inventory slots, you will have to assign Nell to your party as Support. This will occupy that slot, so we’re not very happy with this solution, as it blocks the option to bring along someone else. However, if you really want to, having Nell as your support will increase inventory space from 30 to 50.
Build Stowpack Shop in the Castle
Once you’ve recruited Nell, you will unlock the option to build the Stowpack Shop back at your castle. Building the Stowpack Shop can be found in the Commerce upgrade branch of the castle building tree at the Drafting Studio. However, before you can build the Stowpack Shop, you will also have to build the Rune Shop, which requires a different character, Code L.
To recruit Code L, you will have to get an item called Rune of Currents. This is dropped by the boss Pagurian in the Hishahn Lost Town. That means you’ll have to progress a bit in the story where the party is sent to Hishahn Lost Town for some espionage. Once you have beaten the location boss and acquired the Rune of Currents, go to the Rune Shop in Daphan. You’ll find Code L there and he’ll join you as long as you have the Rune of Currents.
Building the Stowpack Shop requires 40 Pelt and 800 HQ Funds. Once built, the Stowpack Shop will permanently increase your inventory space by 10 slots. You can upgrade the shop further to increase your inventory space by 10 slots each time.
Is Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes a good game?
Our Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes review gave the game a score of 8/10, with the following concluding statement.
“Despite its shortcomings, I could say that I enjoyed Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes enough to recommend it to friends who enjoy these kinds of games. It’s a classic JRPG through and through, and it occupies a space that is rarely provided for in today’s gaming space. If there’s anyone who could recreate the magic of 90s JRPGs, it’s this team.
However, I would be remiss not to criticize the game for what it is. It doesn’t fully lean into its massive roster and at times feels like the game doesn’t know what to do with its characters. Their participation in the story is forgettable, and most of the time not even value-adding. The slight changes in localization was also off-putting, and at some points I feel like the battles could get trivial.
I’ll fondly remember the game for its charm and its colorful character design, and I’ll be speaking well about my experience with it. It’s a fitting series as any to take on the mantle of Suikoden, a fitting swan song for Murayama, and I hope that Rabbit and Bear Studios will continue making future games in this same style. Hopefully, any commercial success that this first entry experiences can launch the series forward with better mechanics and modern features.”
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes was released on April 23, 2024, for the PC through Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
